Last year while in Amsterdam, my mother, sisters, and I spent quite a bit of time perusing the beautiful bulbs, flowers, and plants in the Flower Market. As the weather warms here in New England and I watch my tulips, which I so delicately carried back with me from the trip, blooming into bright reds, oranges, and yellows, I think back on the wonderful journey I took last summer. Funny a year ago things were so different. A historic presidential election was building steam, no one quite knew yet how far down the economy would plunge, and I was in the early months of exploring new possibilities for my life.
I invite you to read my recent blog post on TravelingMom.com, Blooming Memories, where I share some of recent thoughts about looking back on my travels and post some pictures of my beautiful tulips. Also be sure to check out my latest Sanity article, Pack a Journal: The Write Way to Less Stress, about how getting words down on paper can offer personal serenity as you travel along life's journey.
In the meantime, to the left are some of the yellow blooms that are popping open. Planting them right in front of the stone wall has provided them with a warm blanket from the sun - one of the only spots on our property that gets full sun all day long.
They are obviously loving the attention from their solar guardian!
